At Adelaide safety is paramount. We want all students to enjoy their recess time playing and socializing in a less structured environment than the classroom; however, with over 300 students on the playground at one time safety guidelines must be followed.
The general "rule" is....."What's on the ground stays on the ground". This means that snow can be used for building structures and people but not snowballs. Students are reminded of this regularly on the announcements and by their teachers.
Also, sliding is permitted during recess when the students follow the procedures below:
1. On you bottoms only.
2. Feet first.
3. One person at a time.
4. Wait for the person at the bottom of the hill to move before going.
5. Sliding is allowed between the cones only and where there is adult supervision.
